How It Works
The sensor detects changes in the infrared levels in its detection area. When a person or animal moves in front of it, this change triggers the module. It then sends a HIGH signal (usually 3.3V) on its output pin for a fixed duration (typically around 8 seconds) before returning to a LOW state.
Key Features
- Type: Passive Infrared (PIR) Motion Sensor
- Operating Voltage: 4.5V to 20V DC
- Power Consumption: Very low (<60uA), ideal for battery power.
- Detection Range: Up to 3 meters.
- Detection Angle: Less than 100 degrees.
- Output: Digital HIGH/LOW signal.
- Size: Extremely small (about 10mm x 23mm).
In short, it’s a simple, low-cost, and efficient “set-and-forget” motion sensor for projects that need to be aware of the presence of people or animals, such as automatic lighting, security alarms, and interactive installations.
